Utkal Vichitra (Panoramic Orissa) is an exposition of a different kind. It is a place and a platform to introduce the state – its people, art, culture, literature, and handicrafts – to casual tourists and visitors as well as more serious researchers.
Designed to appear as an ancient city at a distance, Utkal Vichitra uses understatement. Set within Indira Park, it integrates with the landscape without losing its distinctive identity. A hillock with shrines around it echoes the city of thousand temples in the middle of the capital city. The architecture of Utkal Vichitra represents a transformed version and an abstraction of the Orissa landscape.
