The overall master plan for Crossings proposes an urban community of 40,000 people within an area of 116 hectares. Strategically located in the city of Ghaziabad, adjacent to NOIDA and greater NOIDA as well as at the intersection of several important existing and planned roads, the project responds to the challenge of integrating a wide range of districts and communities. The Crossings plan provides residential alternatives for people at all income levels, and generates a variety of commercial opportunities. The plan addresses development at two scales: the core and the extended area. The core, located in the eastern part of the site, is the residential, recreational, institutional and small-scale commercial heart of the development. The extended area, in the western part, accommodates a commercial mart, a hospital, a hotel, an entertainment district, and institutional spaces.
The site is tied together by two axial relationships. First, a horizontal axis in the form of a main boulevard unites the core with the extended area. Second, a vertical axis organizes a large central park, providing urban citizens with a series of possible recreational uses. This central park forms a focal node and draws attention away from the Sewage Treatment Plant.
This plan envisions a vibrant new community of mixed uses for families and young professionals. It contains active recreation facilities for both day and night. As a result, Crossings not only meets the needs of its own residents, but will also attract visitors from throughout the region. As an active urban environment, Crossings distinguishes itself from its surroundings through product differentiation.
