The design of this house represents a departure from ‘traditionalism’. It is also a statement of protest against the contextual absence of the city. At various levels the house can read as a neighbourhood with many dwellings, or as a city with public places. It is also a celebration of diversity within a family of distinct personalities. The 500 sq. m. space houses the architect’s personal studio, public areas, and five bedrooms. Gardens and terraces occur at all levels as ‘urban artifacts’, as interiors in opposition.
